Road Runners is a courier company which, since it was purchased
by its current owner, Mike McCartney, in 2000, had
increased its turnover by 100 per cent to £1m by 2005.
Vox were asked to deliver a values-based
campaign to highlight the company's credentials. The media
coverage was to place a particular emphasis on Road Runners'
core values of delivering customer satisfaction through
state-of-the-art technology and personal contact. Its commitment
to employee training and to operating in an environmentally
friendly way were key to placing it ahead of the competition
in an industry which has not always had the best reputation
in these areas.
Vox were able to achieve coverage in print and electronic
media for all of its releases issued throughout the campaign
and was able to negotiate a personal profile and comment
on news of the day, for example when petrol prices hit
the roof in September 2005.
"Vox made it their business to get to know how we worked
and understand how we differed from our competitors. They
used this very effectively in coming up with story ideas
which would be attractive to the media but also highlight
our core values. For us, advertising would not have delivered
these messages as effectively. The coverage certainly got
us noticed," said Mike McCartney, Road Runners
